SIA Top-Up Training for Security Guard License

Security personnel who are in the process of renewing their SIA License post 1st October 2021 are required to undergo the SIA Top-Up Training. This training incorporates new information designed to address the evolving risks and demands associated with contemporary security guard roles.

This course equips participants with valuable skills, such as crowd control strategies, post-pandemic security protocols, and specialized techniques for identifying and proactively preventing acts of terrorism.

What is the duration of Security Guarding top up course?

It is a half day course, however if you do require Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) certificate then it will be a full day course, full details of EFAW are below.

Prerequisites:

✔️Successful completion of the Action Counters Terrorism Course (ACT Course): Participants should bring their ACT Course completion certificate to the SIA Top-Up Training session. The ACT training can be accessed from this link https://ct.protectuk.police.uk

✔️ Completion of the provided e-learning videos.

First Aid prerequisites for the SIA Security Guard Top-Up Training Course:

Candidates should hold certification in Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) or an equivalent qualification. If you have not yet fulfilled the EFAW requirement, there's no need to worry. You can conveniently undertake the EFAW course as part of your scheduled training package, ensuring that you attain the necessary qualification.

It's crucial to understand which First Aid certifications are acceptable for your SIA License. Your certification must be EFAW or higher, and it should be valid for at least 12 months from the commencement date of your Top-Up Training.

For individuals enrolled in the SIA Top-Up Training, especially those undergoing the EFAW course, we offer resources to help you prepare. Taking a First Aid Refresher Course prior to your training can enhance your preparedness and facilitate a smoother training experience on the actual day.

Our online First Aid Refresher Courses are easily accessible and free of charge. However, it's important to note that completing the refresher course will not grant you an EFAW qualification, as the practical element of the training must be completed in person. You'll still need to obtain that qualification during your Top-Up Training. Nevertheless, this initiative equips you with additional skills to enhance your progress.

Keep in mind that the renewal of your SIA License hinges on the successful completion of your Top-Up Training.

Note: it is recommended that you complete your top up training at least 12 weeks before your renewal, as the results and certification can take up to 4 weeks.
